PPZ's resounding defeat in Nave rekindles the hopes of Queen's and St. John's to clinch the title, in a three-way race that in all likelihood will sanction the winner only at the end of the last 50' of the championship.
In this context the Galaxy will be one of the possible needles in the balance still having to face the top three in the class. Monday Night of Group 2 pits Queen's against the Galaxy in what is sure to be the most anticipated match of Day 16.
The Giallorossi arrive in Gardone VT strong from the beautiful and convincing victory over Nave, but without their captain, who was stopped by the Sports Judge for added cautions, and Gamba, who is recovering from the injury suffered in Bovegno.
Bertolini does not change the system of play and gives Romeo back the starting jersey in front of Martinuz, in midfield the pair Bregoli F. and Mazzetti, on their sides Gazzoli and Belotti and in front the untouchable Bergamaschi (on disp. Crea, Fioretti, Zammarchi, Bregoli D., Boccuti).
The match begins as expected, both teams shrewd and orderly so as not to risk running into an uphill race right away. The Galaxy move the ball well despite a pitch not in the Magica Armata's ropes, while the hosts prove extremely solid and unwilling to leave space between defenders and goalkeeper. Queen's tries, but the conclusions are not dangerous and Martinuz hardly even has to get his gloves dirty. The best chance of the first fifteen minutes comes on Gazzoli's paw: served perfectly at the second post by Mazzetti on a corner kick scheme, the outfielder of a thousand battles does not hit well and the ball ends high. In the 18th minute, the balance is broken with the hosts thanking Romeo for the gross error that allows the gialloviola striker to run into the net. The score changes but not the dynamics of the match, which always remains on the tracks of maximum attention. In the 25th minute Belotti has the good ball to equalize, illuminated by a perfect filtering pass from Bergamaschi, but the Gardonesian extreme defender overcomes himself in exit and closes the mirror to the Giallorossi number 18. At the end of the first half once again the Galaxy proved to be self-defeating. This time it is Bregoli who runs into an unforgivable mistake, playing a slow, readable and horizontal ball to Belotti, punctually intercepted by the opponent who after a few meters in progression arrives in front of Martinuz and does not miss: 2-0. A lying score on which the teams go to rest, extremely severe for the Galaxy, punished in the only two inattentions.
The teams re-enter the field with the same personnel and, as predicted, the game does not shift gears. Queen's is in no hurry and closes masterfully to protect the result, while the Galaxy move the ball with good quality without, however, finding the right hole. On 4' comes the 3-0 goal, spoiled (in our opinion) by an unsanctioned foul on Gazzoli in the center of the area. Bertolini tries to change something and the first sub is Zammarchi, who takes the place of an exhausted Gazzoli, author of a test of great self-sacrifice, with the consequent decentralization of Bregoli on the right.
The Giallorossi seem unable to scratch the granitic gialloviola defense, and then in the 15th minute Davide Bregoli comes out of the deck to change the characteristics of the center forward. Making way for him is Mazzetti, with Bergamaschi moving to the center of the field along with Zammarchi. The Giallorossi's ultraoffensive set-up, however, does not transform the substance, so here are Fioretti and Crea again for Bregoli F. and Romeo.
In minute 24 Belotti offers Bregamaschi a ball on a silver platter that the number 2 deposits in the net with first intention. It was a goal that rewarded the Galaxy's enormous efforts on this night and rekindled hopes for a thrilling finale.
The hosts, however, old foxes, sensed the moment and a few moments later, with the Galaxy tired and unbalanced, packed in a drive for the final 4-1 goal, shutting down any chance of a remuntada.
Nothing to recriminate to the Magical Army, proponent of a level performance against a top team in the Provincial panorama and punished only by episodes. In matches like these the difference between victory and defeat is decided by even the smallest of details. The Galaxy return to Castegnato empty-handed, but aware of being a lively and mature team, certainly ready for Saturday's challenge against Ome to consolidate fourth place.
