The Giallorossi's season starts in the best possible way as they emerged victorious with merit in the first official match of the 2022-23 Serie A.

Since the foundation year (2016), the Galaxy had never happened to collect the entire spoils after the first 50' of the season so, although marginal, this victory is already "historic" in itself.

The Giallorossi, orphaned of Bergamaschi, Bertoni, Crea and Eddiraoui, present themselves for the first time as hosts at the Long Street Park in Castegnato with the usual 1-4-1: Inverardi; Romeo; Gazzoli S, Magri, Zammarchi, Belotti; Gazzoli N (on disp. Fioretti, Mazzetti, Bregoli F, Bregoli D, Boccuti).

The guests, in classic green-and-white attire, showed determination from the first moments of the game, but the hosts just needed to remain focused and compact to avoid danger. By the second turn of the clock the scoreboard already changed, with Magri good at fishing the low corner to the goalkeeper's right on a vacant ball outside the box. The Galaxy lead 1-0 but the trend of the match remains unchanged. The green-and-whites kept the ball of the game and the pressure high, while not reserving Inverardi any significant interventions. The Galaxy do not get rattled and in minute 7 they double: Nicola Gazzoli with a bolide to the cross leaves no escape to the goalkeeper directly from a free kick, sending a clear message to the skeptics in the stands. It must be given credit to the guests, however, that they did not suffer the blow and continued as if the score was still tied. In the 15th minute, the efforts of the green-and-whites were rewarded by the goal that halved the disadvantage: Belotti lost a bad ball on the way out and the direct opponent sprinted toward Inverardi's goal, letting off a low shot that left the yellow-and-white number 1 with no chance. It was time for the Galaxy to take over the ball of the game and lower the pace thanks to an established and risk-free ball possession. Magri served by Simone Gazzoli hit the crossbar a few minutes before bringing his side back to a double advantage. Zammarchi comes out well from a complicated situation originated on the right, finding his own captain on the offload who, again from outside the box, delivers the usual sentence removing the cobwebs from the crossbar. Before the rest Simone Gazzoli has a chance to kill the match but incredibly fails from a few steps. The result at halftime reads 3-1.

Bertolini opts not to change anything and on the return to the field in fact nothing happens until minute 31 when Inverardi coming out collides violently with Romeo. The goalkeeper lost blood from his nose and after 5' on the ground decided he could not continue. In his place enters Francesco Bregoli who goes to position on the left lane in place of Simone Gazzoli who is entrusted with the task of defending the Giallorossi goal (curiosity: also last season the Giallorossi number 15 wore the gloves on the first day in the defeat on the field of Giaffa Clusane).

The trend of the match is now all to be deciphered, but the Galaxy once again showed maturity in not passively suffering the events of the match.

In the 42nd minute the boys from Bovezzo shortened, finding the 3-2 goal with a not irresistible conclusion, but enough to get past Gazzoli.

The guests revived, but thwarted a colossal opportunity leveled by the only bloody ball lost by Zammarchi.

Bertolini tried to legitimize the ball possession by inserting Mazzetti for an excellent and buoyant Zammarchi. Meanwhile, from the developments of a throw-in by Belotti, the ball caroms into the area manned by Francesco Bregoli who concludes as well as he can, but the ball again hits the crossbar. Allherta got off balance looking for the equalizing goal, and chances began to flow for the Galaxy. Bregoli sends a good counterattack over the crossbar, failing to serve Nicola Gazzoli free in the center.

Bertolini draws Boccuti off the bench to buy time and fouls, replacing an exhausted Nicola Gazzoli.

In the 49th minute Mazzetti is good first to slice through the increasingly isolated green-and-white defense and then cross with his right to pierce the goalkeeper. The Galaxy deservedly took a two-goal lead just before the announcement of a full-bodied recovery due to Inverardi's injury.

The guests had no more offensive outlets and ideas crashed into the Grigionero wall in front of them. Belotti triggers Boccuti, positioning him face-to-face with the goalkeeper, but the 14 exceeds generosity by trying - unsuccessfully - to reserve his partner in the center. Shortly after, however, the class '96 forward is good at slipping a ball from a throw-in, leaving behind the last green-and-white man who, before the conclusion, intervenes directly on the number 14. The referee has no choice but to award the penalty kick, on which Magri shows up. From the penalty spot the captain is glacial and dispatches the guest number 1: 5-2 Galaxy!

With four minutes to go before the triple whistle there is also room for Fioretti, in place of Magri himself with Francesco Bregoli centralizing. The new number 9 would also have the chance to sign the 6-2 goal, but he fails to take advantage of the millimeter filter drawn by Mazzetti. Before the end of the match there is only time for one last green-and-white gasp with a conclusion that inflicts itself on the post to Gazzoli's right.

A deserved and sought-after victory, which came thanks to excellent psychophysical condition. Character and mentality allowed the Giallorossi to stay the course of a ship that could have foundered at any moment without a goalkeeper for the last decisive half hour. The new recruits were able to integrate into the Galaxy world in a big way and their contribution was important right from the start, for the "old guard" a great test of character and belonging.
