The Leonessa Cup debut in Group G pits Castelmella and USO Galaxy against each other. Diametrically opposed teams in terms of objectives and mentality, divided by a destiny that cannot be compared at the moment. The most classic David against Goliath: the hosts have collected only 9 points in 22 Serie B matches, finishing as the tail end of Group O. An abysmal difference compared to the ambitions of the Giallorossi.
The scales, however, tend to realign when reading the Magica Armata's unavailable players: Martinuz, Romeo, Zammarchi, Fioretti, Boccuti and Bergamaschi are out.
Bertolini relied on Gazzoli between the posts (who wore the uniform of great occasions for the occasion); Crea; Belotti, Magri, Mazzetti, Bregoli F; Gamba (a disp. Eddiraoui, Bregoli D.).
The match started immediately downhill for the guests with Gamba who signed his first goal in Galaxy jersey after less than 30'' from the kick-off, taking advantage of a misunderstanding between the goalkeeper and the opponent's defender.
The Galaxy, for the occasion in a grey uniform, seemed more disordered than usual and on 6 minutes a carelessness put the result back on even terms.
The impression remains, however, that the moment the guests raise the pace and the level of the game they can easily reach the conclusion. And that's exactly what happened two minutes later, with a nice exchange between Belotti and Mazzetti that opened the space for Magri, who was then able to put in a header into the net. Two minutes later it was the Galaxy again who scored, this time with Bregoli who picked up Belotti's kicking invitation.
The game entered a moment of confusion, with few flashes of good play and many stoppages. A minute after the 20-minute mark, however, there were two more goals, one on each side. In the first instance Gazzoli was unable to oppose a central through ball in the Giallorossi defence, a few seconds later Gamba put the Giallorossi back in the lead by two. It went to rest on 2-4. Bertolini opted for pragmatism and switched to a tidier 2-3-1, albeit with a strong front-wheel drive with the entry of Djurd Bregoli and Eddiraoui in place of Bregoli F. and Mazzetti.
The Moroccan outside player was the real game-changer of the match, able to float on the Castelmella sand without the opponents being able to find a way to contain him.
In the 28th minute the number 7's show began, perfectly exploiting a remote-controlled assist by Gazzoli directly from the goal. Two minutes passed and this time it was Davide Bregoli who offered the good ball to Eddiraoui from a throw-in, the timing of the insertion was perfect and the result was 2-6. Three laps of the clock later the hosts showed the last sign of pride by scoring the third goal, but it was a flash in the pan.
In the 39th minute Davide Bregoli again served Eddiraoui in the middle who, from a few steps, did not miss and signed his personal hat-trick. Not content with that, 5' later he took his mark to four directly from a free kick.
Bertolini gave Gamba and Magri a rest, bringing back Francesco Bregoli and Mazzetti for a finale without any more history.
The match ended as predicted. The Galaxy, without too much effort, wet their Cup debut with an announced victory, but in any case deservedly won on the field. Appointment for Saturday for the home challenge against MBG Camignone, defeated in the match against GSO Duomo.
