The match between Sporting San Lorenzo and USO Galaxy closes the second day of Group 2. Both teams come in with three points in the standings: the hosts come in on a great momentum from defeating the current holders of the Provincial title (Queen FC), while the Galaxy come to Villa Carcina strong from their convincing win against the Allherta BVZ green-and-whites.
The biggest unknown for the guests is undoubtedly the goalkeeper. Inverardi will have it for at least a month after the clash suffered with Romeo, so the Giallorossi market team, after evaluating several profiles, opted to sign Mattia Vitali, class of 2001, with a past in Casaglio. In addition to the unavailable Inverardi, the Galaxy must give up Eddiraoui still in Morocco, Bergamaschi struggling with a strain and the long-suffering Bertoni. The small size of the field prompts Bertolini to change the lineup within minutes of the start, preferring Francesco Bregoli to Simone Gazzoli on the left out. The starting 7 is thus composed of Vitali; Romeo; Bregoli F., Magri, Zammarchi, Belotti; Gazzoli N. (a disp. Crea, Fioretti, Gazzoli S., Mazzetti, Bregoli D., Boccuti).
The size of the field immediately led the two teams to risk as little as possible, limiting the possibility of playing ground ball to a minimum due to the few spaces. On a few occassions actually the Giallorossi try and something good is glimpsed, but mostly there is a tendency to verticalize as soon as possible. The two teams seem to equalize, but the balance seems to favor the Galaxy in the first half.
In the 11th minute the guests took the lead thanks to a missile from Nicola Gazzoli, who pierced the opposing number 1 on a nice ball served by Magri on the right.
Sporting could not find the tangle and on several occasions clung to the miracles of their own extreme defender, decisive on more than one occasion.
Vitali warmed his gloves with a fine intervention on the left, before capitulating in the 21st for the equalizing goal: from a throw-in in their favor, the Giallorossi got caught on the counterattack and the hosts could not miss from two steps. The Galaxy did not give up and still had a chance to take the lead, but failed to materialize.
At rest the score is 1-1. Bertolini chooses to change without sacrificing quality: Mazzetti takes the place of Francesco Bregoli, deflecting Zammarchi to the left.
The second half of the match resumes along the lines of the previous one with the Galaxy more proactive, but never able to break through.
Nicola Gazzoli slowly lost brilliance and the Giallorossi struggled to find offensive outlets except through set pieces. The lead, however, is white-blue: in minute 29 the Galaxy lose a bad ball in transition and are punished by a nice exchange in the narrow between the two home performers. After two laps of the clock, the hosts' double advantage also arrived. A punishment too severe for the Castegnatesi. Bertolini takes over from Nicola Gazzoli to insert Davide Bregoli and find more sparkle up front. In fact, it's the change that splits the game because if up to that point Sporting had held up neatly to the Giallorossi's lashings, ant number 11 breaks the bank.
The double advantage allows Sporting to be able to control the game defensively and play on the throw-in as soon as possible.
In minute 43 it is Davide Bregoli himself who finds the way to the goal thanks to a nice exchange with Magri that effectively puts Djurd in front of the goalkeeper. Soon after, it is Zammarchi who finds the verticalization for the newcomer, who, however, hits poorly from a good position. The Magica Armata's pressure is insistent, but the white-blues keep a good guard and nearly fail to find the 4-2 goal that would have ended any talk of a comeback. Vitali overcame himself by removing the ball from the crossbar and left his new teammates' hopes alight. The turnaround led to a Belotti conclusion, however, which was deflected into a corner kick on which Mazzetti was about to beat. The play to free Magri was perfect and in the split the number 6 found the equalizing goal with recovery already underway. The last resounding chance is still in the colors of the yellow and red: Davide Bregoli hooks a Romeo deflection into the sky and serves Zammarchi on the run; the exhausted number 10 shoots centrally at the outgoing goalkeeper before the ball caroms onto Mazzetti's right footer, who from a few steps kicks incredibly wide.
The triple whistle came and two strong and distinct emotions emerged on the faces of the Giallorossi: bitterness for a blurred victory, but pride for having offered another level performance in the presence of a team that will certainly have its say in this championship.
The next appointment is scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. inside the friendly walls of Long Street Park, opponent Polipez A, still stuck with 0 points.
