The news that had been circulating in Giallorossi circles for some time has now become reality: Mr. Bertolini has officially resigned.

It is news that causes a stir, but the intentions were already clear from the defeat to Duomo in the Coppa Leonessa.

Too much the disappointment of not being able to bring a trophy that seemed particularly within reach and too strong the desire to return to wearing boots again, wearing the jersey sported only in the unfortunate season of the knee injury.

In agreement with the club as early as June, however, Bertolini put ego aside, taking the responsibility to continue coaching if a suitable replacement could not be found. After probing several high-sounding names in the Castegnatese and provincial scene, the hypothesis of resignation seemed increasingly remote, but here was the last-second twist.

Matteo Valenza, after a summer spent in reflection, has given his availability to lead the Giallorossi as their new coach. Valenza is at his first experience on the bench, having worked right with Bertolini and Caracciolo in the last two seasons. It will be the assistant from Rosarno who will act as the glue between the past and the future, advising the new coach as best he can.

We like to imagine Bertolini, Caracciolo and Valenza sitting at the table like the famous "triple couple" scene from Ask Me If I'm Happy, with Bertolini and Caracciolo as Giacomo and Aldo.

The legacy Valenza picks up is impressive: Bertolini has guided the Galaxy in 120 battles, leading them to victory on 70 occasions, topping it all off with a championship, a Provincial Champions title and promotion to the Open Excellence.

We wish the new Mr. to bring enthusiasm and that bit of craziness that can birth a new course as beautiful and winning as the one just ended.
